As a trained theoretical physicist from Imperial College London, Nicholas began his career at the intersection of technology and magazine publishing in the mid-nineties in London. First at IPC magazines, then at Time, he worked through the early internet’s transformation of the industry. In fact, Nicholas contributed to a number of successful new media business launches for Time/IPC.

Nicholas then moved to an entirely different challenge: the payments business, working on the launch of all three debit switches in the English-speaking Caribbean.

In 2000, Nicholas joined CIBC, where he held roles in Product Management, Marketing, Payments, Electronic Channels, and Retail Banking. Before long, he was heading up the electronic banking portfolio across 13 countries.

In 2013, he co-founded a boutique consultancy company that specialised in Artificial Intelligence and the use of data to enable business innovation and strategy. This consultancy has worked with companies in the Retail, Insurance, Distribution, Wind Energy, Payments, Blockchain/Digital currency, and Banking sectors.

Nicholas holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from Imperial College London. He consulted with Kaiju Capital Management on our AI strategies in 2019, coming on board full time in 2020.

Nicholas is a valued member of several key committees, including the R&D and the Risk Management Committee.

Nicholas also volunteers as a mentor to students, particularly to school leavers, when not plumbing the depths of philosophy or enjoying slightly less weighty explorations aboard a sailboat.
